summary
Iran is the sixth most disaster-prone country in the world. Apart from earthquakes, most natural hazards such as floods, forest and rangeland fires, drying of lakes and wetlands, landslides, desertification, dust storms, moving sands, air pollution, and reduction of drinking and agricultural water resources are all linked to environmental degradation and loss of ecological resources. Therefore, it is evident that environmental management and protection play a crucial role in disaster risk management. This book is based on the premise that environmental management can have a fundamental role in preventing and reducing risks caused by natural disasters. It emphasizes that scientific and organizational cooperation between environmental management and disaster management institutions can significantly enhance the efficiency of disaster risk reduction.
